Every second costs you visitors
Study after study finds the same pattern: as page load time rises from one second to three, the probability of a visitor leaving jumps dramatically. People do not wait for slow websites — they go back to the search results and choose your competitor.
Google knows this, which is why speed and user-experience signals (Core Web Vitals) are part of how pages are ranked. A slow site is fighting with one hand tied: worse rankings, and worse conversion from the traffic it does get.
Where speed is usually lost
- Oversized images: photos straight from a phone camera, uncompressed and far larger than the space they fill.
- Heavy themes and plugins: page builders and plugin stacks that load code your page never uses.
- Cheap, overloaded hosting: the server itself becomes the bottleneck at peak hours.
- No caching: every visit rebuilds the page from scratch instead of serving a ready copy.
What to do about it
Start by measuring with PageSpeed Insights, then fix in order of impact: compress and resize images, remove unused plugins and scripts, enable caching, and review hosting honestly. In our builds, speed is treated as a design requirement from day one — because retrofitting it later is always more expensive.
